So my wife and I came here back in 2004 and it was a pleasant experience, good waitress, good food, a little high priced but non the less we enjoyed it! On the other hand in 2006 we came to PCB for another vacation with some friends. We told them about how great this place was and so on and so on, well this time was terrible. It took forever to get seated, over an hour. When we finally got to our table the waiter couldn't take his eyes off my wife! He took our friends and my order then when it came to my wife for some reason he had to step behind her...I know what that reason was, he had to get a good look down her dress, our friends even noticed. After waiting forever for our meals, which we still enjoyed, everytime he would come check on us guess what? his eye's were still glued to her ta ta's!!! He wasn't very friendly either. So once we finished our meals I didn't give him a tip at all, I think one of our friends gave him like 13 cents or something like that! Now I know that was back in 2006, but sometimes things stick with you and that day is burnt in our memories, so we probably won't ever come back here when we come to PCB for another vacation.

food was very good and priced well had the shrimp pompano (shrimp with bacon, not much to complain about), and the red dragon roll....everything was great, came out fast....waitress was nice only gripe was that they ran out of the gator roll....isn't this florida? also, the decor was a little dated and the bar area felt a little dingy, but not a deal breaker if i'm ever in PCB again, i'll try and stop by

A nice, albeit sobering and quiet, time for some friends and I. Get the seafood, of course, and realize you have returned to civilization, or at least some semblance of it, and calm down. Enjoy the only real food you may eat all week and expect to pay up accordingly. Not sure I'd call it dressy, but not casual either--stick to a nice collared shirt for guys, and ladies can probably get away with anything. I'm sure they'd let you in unless you were a total mess, though.

Ate dinner there last night and it was great as usual. One in our group had crab legs which was a little over cooked. The deserts are large enough for 4 people or more. The sushi was great! Always great food. We eat here every time we visit pcb.

We went with a group of 4 and we were seated fairly quickly. My friends and husband ordered appetizers which were very good. The waitress told me they started serving sushi but I refused to try where I cannot see the chef or the goods! We ordered different types of steaks but all of us ordered rare which came out a little more cooked past medium rare (almost no pink inside the steak), they were extremely tough and so was the lobster. The crab legs were okay, the she-crab soup was excellent which is the only reason I can even give a star to this restaurant. The waitress came by while I was eating and shoved another customer's sushi under my face and said "See, sushi!" before taking it over to another table. We paid a fortune ($250+) for food that we ended up just leaving on the table. I was disappointed that PCB has very little to offer in the way of fine dining since this is a huge tourist town.

Ate here about a 15 years ago. The bacon wrapped shrimp is one of the best things I have put in my mouth.

After the high rating here, I had high hopes. However, 45 minutes after being given our sad salads drowned in dressing, our hopes were already dwindling. When our food finally arived, the waitress handed me a very hot plate, saying "Oh, sorry, it's hot." Oh, thanks for the warning! Taking a closer look at my shrimp compared to some other shrimp on the table, however, they seemed less than cooked. I pointed this out to the waitress and she said "They seem cooked to me!" and walked away. Great. I traded some shrimp with my mother who got the seafood plate, and her plate, being metal and hot, actually cooked the shrimp from my dish. We rarely saw our waitress. For what we paid, the food was not only mediocre, but gross. Sorry, Yelp, I have to give this one "one star."

Excellent sushi. The tuna was perfect. My steak was a perfect medium-rare, and my wife loved the prime rib. Ask for their wine & cheese dressing, which turns their only average salad into something special. My only concerns are with the plastic glasses and that my old fashioned was prepared with Makers Mark instead of Knob Creek as I requested. My wife and I will be making this an annual tradition during our stay in the area. I highly recommend it.

After being in PC for a week & eating almost everywhere we decided to give this place a try. It was a bit pricey but the menu looked good. I had a meal of chicken & shrimp with a loaded potato. My chicken was bland & my potato was cold. It was not at all what I expected for the price. The other people I was with said about the same with regards to the meal. We should have ordered a dessert which looked amazing. The cool atmosphere & nice wait staff was not enough to make up for a sub par meal. Probably will not be going back

Absolutely the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant in my 25 years of eating out. Server forgot to put our meal in, and tables sat after us received their meals before us. Took 40 minutes to get my child's macrioni that we ordered as soon as we sat down. Manager was a complete idiot as well as server. Not to mention the hostess stand was a bunch of gossiping fools as we left. Once my mahi mahi was served the waitress stated they were cooking me fresh vegetables and would be out shortly which was 10 minutes later. The only reason I even give them one star instead of zero was because the food was decent. However the only reason we ate here was because our other choices had an hour waiting list and they sat us immediately. Would have been better off waiting for our first choice.

Went for the dinner with my wife and daughter. Good service, but unfortunately bad food. The only thing was ok is fried calamari appetizer- which is same everywhere so it was hard to waist this meal. Prices are good, but as I mentioned earlier- servers should fire chef and start cooking the food, and I think they will newer have empty parking lot. After next day dinner in the next door restaurant where i spent twice less for best shrimp I ever eat, I changed my mind and gave this place one star. Food really was bad for hundred bucks we spend there. 100% negative!!!

This is where we ate our first night in PCB. The food was pretty good, but, i thought it was expensive for what you got.

This was our last meal at the beach and it was terrible. Waitress was very nice but all in all our dinner took 3 hours. I tried to order miso soup and a ginger salad but they were out. Everyone at my table ordered a steak but me and my sushi was the last to come out 10 minutes later. The steaks were not a good cut of meat either. The food was way over priced for what we got. We will not be going back here.

Steer clear!! This place is the Pitts!! Overpriced, bland seafood. Just the musty smell of this restaurant was a red flag. But we had just arrived to PCB and after a 9 hr drive we just wanted to have a nice meal. Boy did we go to the wrong place for that! I ordered the fried grouper which had absolutely no flavor whatsoever ever, accompanied by mash potatoes and veggies. My husband had the mahi, which was overly seasoned with chili powder. Both meals were awful. This place reminded me of that show on Food Network Restaurant Impossible.. They definitely need Robert Irvine's help!

This restaurant is listed as closed, but they must have reopened. All I can say is that they'd be doing diners a huge favor if they closed their doors again!! We tried this restaurant a couple of days ago while vacationing in the area. If you find yourself near Pompano's, I'd highly recommend you step right next door to Dee's Hang Out instead for a truly delicious meal. Or drive a few miles to the Saltwater Grill if you want a fine-dining experience with amazing food at a similar price point. I can say that I really enjoyed the baked oyster appetizer we ordered, and the the blue cheese salad dressing offered with my salad was tasty. The garlic mashed potatoes were OK. However, overall, the food was positively lousy, and the prices were extremely high considering the poor quality. We also ordered the calamari appetizer, which was standard frozen and fried fare that could have been purchased from the freezer case at Walmart. I had one bite where I could actually taste a piece of calamari, while the remainder was 99% breading. The salads were a very sad state of wilted iceberg lettuce, topped with 3 limp mandarin oranges from a can, a a tiny sprinkling of slivered almonds (I'd guess maybe 5 at most) and 4 tiny bits of tomato, each smaller than a pencil eraser. Even the excellent dressing didn't make the salad worth eating, and the bread that came with it was plain white slices that weren't warm and had absolutely no flavor. I normally can't resist a bread basket, but I only ate one bite of this and wished I hadn't bothered at all. I couldn't even taste the Ahi Tuna I ordered, as it was very thin slices absolutely annihilated with some sort of heavy-handed seasoning. It was so salty and nasty that my mouth was literally burned from all of the salt and what tasted like some sort of chili-powder mix. My friend tried the shrimp and scallops over risotto, which she said might have been nice had it also not been very over-seasoned. To add insult to injury, we were seated in a sad, dark corner, and they were short staffed the evening we were there. The service was slow, and our waitress, even though she was trying to be nice, was flustered and not as attentive as I would have preferred for a restaurant in that price point.

There was nothing good about Pompano's. The bacon wrapped shrimp pompano was poor - the bacon was raw, the shrimp was hard like it was cooked yesterday. The special Alaskan king crab legs were soggy and very hard to crack like they had been soaking in liquid all night. The pasta with shrimp, scallops, crab & basil (I forget the name - thank God I forgot the name) was terrible. My eighth grader would've constructed a more composed dish given the ingredients. I had the baked stuffed grouper with crab sauce. The grouper was pretty good the crab sauces was like Campbell's cream of mushroom - not awesome. Overall this was a very poor and extremely overpriced dinner.

Not-so-good stuff: *Heavier on the dollars than I would have liked *Found a piece of icky lettuce in my salad *View of the horrible Walmart beyond the pond *No outside deck seating Good stuff: *No wait to be seated *Looked like a lot of parking was available *Charming view of pond with lilypads *Friendly server who maybe was a tad too attentive *Food came out quickly *Generous portion sizes, couldn't eat all of my coconut shrimp *Free unlimited warm rolls! *Memorable garlic mashed potatoes *Big hunks/chunks of blue cheese in my blue cheese dressing

Good stuff: No wait Good mashed potatoes Prime rib pretty good Rolls good Servers friendly Not great: Musty smell seemed to permeate into everything, even my soda Restroom seemed a bit dirty and had no toilet paper We waited a little longer than usual for a server

The decor and ambiance were great. Beautiful wood I Teri it and quiet don't have to yell atmosphere. I ordered sushi which was average at best but a friend ordered the filet and it looked and tasted very good. Great ambiance and recommended for a quiet night out.

My family and I decided dine here for two reasons, one it was right infront of our resort and we did not to deal with PCB traffic, and two all of the other seafood places nearby had at lest a two hour wait. the restaurant was very nice but the food was not even mediocre. Seafood platter - more like a plate that I could easily finish n still be hungry. Came with a small fillet of fish, stuffed crab, and some a tiny portion of scallops and oysters. Everything was bland, very bland. Panama city sushi roll - very loosely rolled. The tuna was about to fall out of the roll. Nothing special. Even though the food was disappointing the dessert was actually great. I Ordered creme brulee and key line pie which were both very large portions. They had the biggest and best tasting creme brulee I've had thus far. Key line pie slice was huge, creamy, and tasted homemade. Service was good. Our waiter was friendly, funny, and attentive.

An expensive place for sub-par food. Taking advantage of the tourists, I see! Well, we came here as a last minute decision with a huge group. Long wait, got seated, the service was very friendly. But their food... Everything was just okay. My broiled shrimp were minuscule and would have had no flavor if it weren't doused in seasoning. Doused as in my mouth puckered as soon as it tasted all the saltiness. And the vegetables tasted like water with salt and pepper. The best thing here would be the Oyster Rockefeller appetizer. Super creamy and perfectly cooked.

I stopped in over Memorial Day weekend and it was slammed. Luckily my friend and I were able to find seats at the bar without any wait. We did wait on the bartender, Erik though. He actually admitted he was hung over. The girl working the bar actually helped us the entire time we were there and she was great. We split the tuna app and it was surprisingly sweet, which I was a big fan of. We did notice that about 4 married men approached us and struck up conversations while waiting on their drinks. I guess because PCB is touristy and it was MDW?

First visit to Panama City Beach w/ little family vacation along w/ my brother in law and his wife. So normally I read the reviews of any place we want to go eat, but didn't read this place before we walk in, too late... Our first dinner we pick Pompano's nice from the outside, once we walk in it smell pretty weird, but I told my kids probably seafood smell. My alcohol mix drink was okay, our appetizer, was really pricey for just 6 stuffed mushrooms... For dinner I got Sushi, Cuz I LOVE Sushi... I got Soft Shell Crabs... Where the CRABS?!? Was really disappointed... Dont ever order Japanese food from American Restaurant. My daughter order loaded bake potato (she 12yrs old) they charge us .25 cent each for green onion, cheese, bacon bit... My son (18yrs old) order their special $29.99, it taste liked raw/ spoil seafood... But Over all our service he was nice... But I don't think we gonna be coming back.... Have to try everything at least. Now I can say I came here...

Not impressed. The place is filthy. Mediocre food, ok service. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller, we got Oysters Pompano. I ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes and got steamed vegetables that were ice cold. The martini was decent, but not the best. We won't be coming back.

Disclaimer: we didn't eat here. We went on a Saturday night, but it was really empty. When we walked in, it smelled musty and damp... like mildew. Needless to say we left soon after. I wouldn't trust a place like that to handle my food. It used to be the place to go, but I heard it was closed for a while. If you're looking for a nice meal, go to Saltwater Grill.

This was the best restaurant we found in Panama City Beach. In a land overrun by touristy restaurant and sub par seafood we were looking for a good dinning experience. We honestly went light on the seafood, what we did have was great. The steaks were stellar. I'm sure we'll visit again. -------------------- Thai shrimp excellent sweetness just a hint of spice. Red wine feta dressing awesome. Could use a hint of salt. Anchovies? Great baseball photos in bathroom. Joe DiMaggio & kids in a stadium. Word is womens bathroom needs remodeling as of July 2011 Cocktail sauce has a great horseradish flavor is very good. Lowe's steak is great, filet is perfect. Perfect. NY Strip is excellent. Snow crab legs were great. My wife loved them. Baked potatoes were good.

After living in Panama City for nearly 2 years, I can assure you that finding even a "good" restaurant is nearly impossible. The lack of local restaurants providing food that is merely edible is staggering. With that being said, Pompanos and Salt Water Grill are two of 3 restaurants in the entire area I would even spend my money. The other acceptable dining options are all chains. The menu is a little pricey, but considering the alternatives, it is worth it. I'd rather spend too much for a great steak than spend a fair price on a meal that looks already digested that the majority of places on the beach offer. Order the Steak Pompano. Get the spicy thai shrimp. Pay the check, tip your server, and be happy you found this treasure in a sea of disgusting establishments. And if the word "buffet" is in the title of anywhere you consider dining in PCB, consider yourself warned. It will be nasty.

We went here on Friday evening on a whim. We started with the jalapeno crab cake appetizer. BLAND. No spice. No zippity doo da. Nothing. I couldn't even taste jalapeno even though I could kind of see it. My husband ordered some filet mignon in a special sauce they had and the sauce was absolutely over powering and foul. I got grilled chicken with vegetables and it was a huge plate of BLAND. I know those things sound bland but they aren't if you make an effort to flavor them with - you know, spices and sauces and all those magical things you pay chefs and restaurants to do so that you don't have to! My daughter got sashimi and although it was fresh, the presentation was beyond weak, and the price was outrageous compared to any of our favorite sushi places. Most places offer some kind of reasonable sashimi box option but not this place! Just overpriced sliced fish and on top of it we had to pay several dollars for a small bowl of what seemed to be cheap powdered miso soup. There isn't much else to say. I never got lemon that I requested for my drink and the waiter seemed over-run even though the place wasn't very busy. I feel like the menu is too large and outdated which causes the restaurant to use few fresh items. I also feel like the food is catering to people with blander palettes. It isn't sophisticated, it isn't fresh, and it isn't worth the money. I went back to Firefly the next night and for almost the exact same price, we somehow managed to get incomparably better appetizers, meals and dessert. Unless you adore bland food and OK service for an unreasonable price, just give your money to a more worthy restaurant. It only gets two starts because it could have been worse - but I absolutely would never go back for the price.

When the line for Cafe Dee's was 45 mins long, we came here with zero wait. It was a little worrying that there was no wait here and 45 mins for Cafe Dee's but we were starving. The food wasn't bad but not fantastic either...we got the broiled fisherman's platter and the cucumber rolls. The seafood platter had shrimp, soft shell crab, grouper and scallops. We split it so it would've been too much food for 1 person. Slightly bland. The cucumber rolls had too much wasabi already in the rolls which I've never experienced before--too much wasabi makes me cry! :) The restaurant itself is pretty plain decor but does face out over kind of a swamp thing, which I'm not sure if it is fake or not, but it's different. Service was fantastic though, and always with a smile.

I've always loved this place even though its always been a little pricy, but they now seem to think that they can let their quality go down hill and remain at the top. The she crab soup was still the best at the beach and the rest of the dinner was good, but that's just it, it was only good. For $30+ per person I expect a little more then just good. Their portions have gone from the fish filling your plate and them having to bring your baked potato on a side plate to not even coming close to filling your plate. The salad was literally 3 small bites. All the while their prices have gone up by 50%! Pompano's needs to go back to what made them a must visit spot or they'll go the way of many restaurants with people asking, "whatever happened to..."

Read various reviews and decided to give it a try. The food was horrible. The fish tasted like mush with absolutely no flavor. The crab cakes were the same. The drinks were watered down and sent back several times. I ended up sending back my food and getting something to eat from somewhere else. We sat at a cramped table in the middle of the isle. We had to move our chairs several times so that the waiters could get by. No one in our party enjoyed their meal. Do not waste your time and money at this place.

Bad bar service. The bar tender couldn't mix simple drinks. The food was terrible so salty that none of us could finish it. Without the salt it would have been good. The facility smells like the turtle lagoon outside. The floors have a layer of grease that moves under your feet. I peered into the kitchen, what a disaster. If I had looked at the kitchen first I would have gone to Angelos. If you like nice food, nice atmosphere and bus boys that don't throw plates on the tables, then go somewhere else. $250 for 4 adults and 2 kids with no dessert. When I mentioned how bad the kitchen looked and the floors were covered in grease they offered us dessert, I declined, paid the check and will never return.

Two words describe this establishment, and each one gets their own special star: WHITE TRASH! After being ignored at Saltwater Grill, we relucantly came here----there was no wait. (Scary in Florida for this time of year) We were seated, and not to judge, but I'm going to describe the scenery. I look out the window and see a swamp, then look at the rednecks at the table beside me, and see Jethro using his fingernail as a toothpick. NICE! Granted, our server, Jamie, was a sweetheart, and she was very prompt and attentive. I decided to gamble, as she informed us that they recently added sushi to their menu. Ha Ha, I'm a risk taker. Bad move. Horrendous sushi----barely edible. For our entrees, wifey had some grouper special. Disgusting! I had the yellowfin tuna, grilled rare. It was nothing special, and I've honestly had better tuna from my local Jewel for $6 that I've prepared myself. Besides the "WT" factor, and the fact that most patrons are from L.A. (Lower Alabama), the service was excellent. I did pay attention to the other servers as well, and all of them were extremely polite and seemed to do an excellent job. Unfortunately, the seafood is low quality. Don't think I'll return...

Was surprised after reading stellar reviews how dramatically ordinary this place is. I am way more impressed by food over service or ambiance. The latter are respectable here but the food even at half the cost is overpriced. The salads are weak even by beach town standards, the crab cakes border between instantly forgettable and simply innocuous, and the fish which an upscale seafood restaurant on the ocean should knock out of the park with hands tied behind back, was not very good quality. On the brighter side, the salad dressings were good and tasted home made and our waitress was super nice. Not recommended overall.

The first time we went to Pompano's the wait was over an hour and we somehow got asked to dine in the VIP area and were seated within about 15 minutes. The room we sat in was very nice and quiet and the service was fabulous! The food is great! We've been back several times since and never sat in that room since, but everything else has still beeen good. Of course the VIP room was nicest- but the restaurant is great anyway!
